Video Diary: Knife Crime- a Question for Boris

Video Diary: Knife Crime- a Question for Boris

Following the murder of Ben Kinsella, I raised the problem of Knife Crime as a Question for the Mayor. You can see from his response that Boris doesn’t want to know about lobbying the government to impose tough prison sentences for those caught carrying a knives. As I keep saying, the only way to dissuade all those youngsters from carrying knives for protection is an automatic sentence of imprisonment. Unfortunately, now the fear of being attacked is just so great that we need to take this no-nonsense approach to tackle the problem. Boris’s pathetic measures to stem the tide, such as knife arches and ‘Operation Blunt’ have been proved to be ineffective as we can see from the tragedies that continue to occur on the streets of London. This year, there have been 14 knife murders of minors already. Last year in the full 12 months, there were 13.
